13/2014: Spring has sprung

And Spring can now be carried around. My friend an neighbor has her birthday tomorrow, and she asked me to make her a Super Tote. She is a very kind, nurturing person, so I thought flowers and something Spring-like would be perfect for her. Here's the result:

Side 2:

I did not use a zipper this time, instead, I inserted a magnetic snap. But of course the super practical inside pockets are there:

I hope she'll like it. This bag also made me realize I'm on a low volume paired with bright colors trip...

Evolving again

It seems to me that it is all work and no play theses days... But I'm not complaining, I like my job! Yesterday evening I did get the chance to sew though, and I pulled out my Kona Cotton Improv quilt. I call this the evolution quilt since it is getting bigger in stages, it evolves. If you want to follow the journey, check this out.

I haven't measured it yet, but my guess is that it's now 40 by 60 inches. So far, I still have a lot of fun doing this, so who knows how big I'll make it. It definitely needs to grow wider. King size, anyone?

Which way?

Have you ever made a quilt block just for the fun of it and then had no clue what to do with it? Well, in my case "no clue" is a bit exaggerated. But I am really not sure what I should do with this:

Right now I'm thinking "side panel for a bag", but then there's always the possibility of a medallion quilt...
Any suggestions?

12/2004: Meow!

In order to get to know my new sewing machine better, I thought I start off with a fairly easy project: a Wiksten Tova. Since I made this pattern so often now (seriously, there must be ten or so in my closet by now), I knew I could finish this project in one sewing session. And since I had just gotten some Catnap fabric from my quilty friend Susanne, it was a no brainer what fabric to use.

This feels so spring like, perfect for the nice weather we've been having here lately.

Since I got a few other prints from Catnap, prepare for a "Catapalooza in clothes" for the next few weeks...

A new toy

So, I've been window shopping for a new sewing machine for quite a while now and could not make up my mind. Until last Sunday. I don't really know what led my to this final decision, but here it is, my brand new toy (or should I say BFF?):

I already spent this evening getting to know her better. And what can I say, I like her, I like her a lot. I think this could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship...
