18/2014: Welcome back!

Well hello there, it's been a while...
Sorry for the total lack of posts in the last month. It was due to a mix of no internet for almost three weeks and the general busyness of settling in after a big move. But we are up and running now. The kids are happily settled at their new school (I can't believe I have a first grader now!), and I realized that my French is not so bad after all. Still a long way towards fluency though, but I'll get there (in a few years or so, haha). And I finally got a smartphone and discovered instagram! Totally addictive. You can find me under http://instagram.com/sunset.sewing#

Since our new place is smaller than the old house, I had to scale down my sewing area a bit. It's now a combined sewing/guest room. I'll give you a tour in the next post, since I have a finish to show today! The other night I had this idea pop into my head. You always see a lot of color with a low volume background all around, so I thought: "Why not switch this around?" And that I did.

Halfway through the ironing, I realized I don't have enough orange Kona. But luckily I have friends with quilt shops! A quick order to Andrea took care of that. But alas, patience was never my strong suit.  And when I came across some orange cotton fabric at Manor (a department store, kind of like Macy's), I just could not resist. But when I look at it from another angle, then I have finished a pillow and added to my stash at the same time. How cool is that?

I really like how it turned out. What can I say, I'm totally into quilted rainbows.

And it fits right in with the other quiltiness on my sofa, wouldn't you say?

I'm linking up with Quilt Matters for TGIFF and crazy mom quilts!

  1. What a great cushion - the colours are really striking and it definitely fits in well on your sofa. I've never thought to look at fabric in Manor myself, I must check it out.

  10. I am also ALL about quilted rainbows, and your couch looks amazing! I hope my couch looks like that one day! I'm a beginner quilter and so far most of my creations have been gifts for others. I can't wait to start making some quilts for me (or my family at least!). Lovely finish, and thank you for sharing!

  11. Lovely cushion (s) - i see all this lovely colour on your couch/lounge you need to inject some abstract colour on the walls- get the kids to splash some paint on a canvas in the colours of your lovely cushions. (just a suggestion) Great job!
